Biography
Born on 14 April 1949 in Brentwood, Essex, England, vocalist Kristina moved on from Curved Air’s breakup by launching the hard-rocking Escape and issuing a solo album via Chopper Records in 1980. Her marriage to former band drummer Stewart Copeland—who had by then become a member of the Police—and the demands of raising two children postponed the return to an acting path she had set aside when she left the London production of Hair in 1970 to join Curved Air. Appearances in the musical Curriculee Curricula and as the lead in Romeo and Juliet preceded a 1988 period of performances across Britain’s arts centres and more daring folk venues. She later organised a national tour showcasing artists from that same circuit and assembled her own psychedelic acoustic acid folk group, TY-LOR and Friends, which featured violin and cello. Further recordings in the 1990s marked a clear resurgence in her career. Entering the new millennium, she joined composer Marvin Ayres for the experimental MASK project, whose concerts stand out for their striking integration of lighting and audio. Kristina has continued to appear at occasional Curved Air reunions while also instructing in Performing Arts at Middlesex University.
