Biography
Originally called Blood Wave, the French heavy metal outfit Sortilege came together in 1981 thanks to vocalist Christian Augustin and guitarist Stephanne L’Anguille Dumont. With the subsequent recruitment of guitarist Didier Dem, bassist Daniel Lapp, and drummer Bob Snake, the group landed a deal in 1983 from the Dutch label Rave On. Their sound centered on an unwavering metallic boogie style. The album Metamorphose appeared in an alternate English-language version titled Metamorphosis, yet it achieved no success beyond French borders. By the time Hero Tears arrived, creative inspiration had begun to wane for the band. Dissolution followed soon after that record’s release.
