Biography
Soul Ballet emerged under the guidance of Rick "R.K." Kelly, who served as producer, arranger, programmer, and multi-instrumentalist. The ensemble fuses the cool, smooth textures of contemporary jazz with throbbing electronic pulses, yielding an unexpectedly dark, moody atmosphere. Although a live rhythm section and rotating guest vocalists—Stefani, Annika, and Billy Valentine among them—appear from time to time, the endeavor remains chiefly Kelly's own. The catalog comprises the self-titled debut issued in 1996, Trip the Night Fantastic from 1998, and Vibe Cinema in 2000.
