Hailing from Brooklyn, Stats crafts a potent rock sound that merges the weight of sludgy hardcore and metal with the propulsive drive of math rock. The group originated in 2002 under the name Stay Fucked, its initial roster comprising drummer/vocalist Hank Shteamer, guitarist Joe Petrucelli, and bassist Tom Kelly. Tom Kelly later exited, with Feast of the Epiphany bassist/vocalist Tony Gedrich stepping in as his replacement. Multiple EPs and a rechristening as Stats preceded the arrival of former Yukon and Feast of the Epiphany member Nick Podgurski as the band’s dedicated vocalist. Mercy, the outfit’s first full-length release, surfaced in 2015 on the New Atlantis label.
