Biography
Having previously performed with Brooklyn Funk Essentials and lent her voice to sessions for Tricky, Soulive, Talib Kweli, and Chocolate Genius, Stephanie McKay stepped forward as a solo artist in 2003 with the album McKay. That release drew substantial input from Portishead’s Geoff Barrow (aka Fuzzface) and Adrian Utley. Although McKay itself never appeared in the States, portions of its material surfaced on a self-titled EP issued by Astralwerks in 2006. Early the following year the same label put out her second album, Tell It Like It Is.
