Steve Harvey

During the closing years of the 1990s, comedian Steve Harvey achieved broad visibility across several platforms at once. He portrayed a 1970s soul singer who becomes a high-school teacher on his own series, The Steve Harvey Show, delivered a stand-up performance in the HBO special One Man, and served as host of the long-running variety program It's Showtime at the Apollo. In addition, Polygram offered him a recording contract that produced his 1997 debut album, Live...Down South Somewhere.
