Biography
Emerging in 1973 as a power trio steeped in American heavy metal with strong blues underpinnings, the band was assembled by Snuffy Walden on vocals and guitar, Alan Roberts on bass and vocals, and drummer Leslie Sampson (b. 1950). Their sound drew on the approaches of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. The 1974 arrival of Timmy Dulaine on guitar and vocals plus keyboardist Luis Cabaza produced disappointing results, as the original trio’s force and directness gave way to excessively elaborate arrangements. While You’re Down There offered further letdowns, and after management disputes plus contractual difficulties the members parted company in 1975. Walden later resurfaced as the theme composer for the popular US television soap opera 30 Something.
