Formed more than two decades ago by brothers Paul Porter and Tyrone Porter together with cousins Arnold Brown and Ronald Brown, the Christianaires have earned recognition as a prize-winning gospel quartet. Personnel shifts have taken place across the years, with Charles Porter and George Carter entering the lineup after earlier members departed. Throughout the nineties and into the following decade the ensemble placed multiple albums with Atlanta Records, A&M, and Marxan Records. Extensive road work at churches, conventions, concerts, and television broadcasts occupied the group long before any studio sessions began. Their debut album, Ain't No Way I Could, appeared in 1990. One year later an Excellence Award for Contemporary Quartet of the Year was presented to them. The Vision Becomes Clearer arrived in 1993 and secured a Stellar Award nomination for Best Performance. Two additional projects, Thru the Storm and Reaching Out, both surfaced in 1995; the releases brought a Vision Award and an opportunity to appear at the ceremony, where the quartet impressed both emerging acts and established peers. Their sound fuses longstanding gospel traditions with contemporary touches. Songs they have documented on record include “At the River,” “We Need Jesus,” “Angels,” “Jesus Is Call,” “All He Wants Is Praise,” “Let God Fix It,” “Lift Up Your Hands,” “I Found Life,” “The Blood,” and “Love Will Make a Way.”
