Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the Doubleclicks blend humor, occasional sharp commentary, and frequent nods to geek culture in their comedy folk performances. Sisters Aubrey Turner on cello and Angela Webber on guitar and ukulele are the daughters of a Berklee College of Music professor and a fiber artist; they spent their Massachusetts childhood immersed in shared music-making from their earliest years. Stringed instruments entered their lives during elementary school, and they formed a rock band in high school, yet only Aubrey continued formal training by enrolling in classical cello studies at Berklee. Once she completed her degree, Aubrey relocated to join Angela, who was working as a writer and journalist in Portland, and the pair began appearing at open-mike nights. Drawing from childhood favorites by the Smothers Brothers and Weird Al Yankovic, they issued their first EP, Beta Testing 1-2-3, under the name Angela & Aubrey Webber in 2010.

Adopting the Doubleclicks moniker, they launched a song-a-week YouTube series in 2011 whose output supplied both recorded material and live dates at unconventional spaces including game stores, comic shops, and conventions. In April 2012 they independently put out the children’s EP Worst Superpower Ever alongside the full-length Chainmail and Cello, followed by the Christmas Ain’t About Me EP that December. Their second LP, Lasers and Feelings, appeared in 2013 and climbed to number seven on the Billboard Comedy Albums chart. Dimetrodon arrived in 2014 bearing tracks such as “Cats & Netflix” and “Love You Like a Burrito,” while President Snakes, released the next year, peaked at number two on the comedy chart. Love Problems, their fifth album, entered at number one in 2017.
