Biography
The Fever originated in 2001 as garage rock and new wave revivalists before shifting toward more experimental territory, when singer Geremy Jasper and guitarist Chris Sanchez first joined forces to write material. Completing the lineup required the addition of bassist Pony, drummer and percussionist Achilles, and Sanchez’s younger brother J. on organ. Following the cultivation of a potent live act, the group secured a contract with Kemado Records and delivered its debut EP, Pink on Pink, in 2002. The full-length The Red Bedroom appeared the next year, after which the band remained on tour for most of 2004. Chris Sanchez exited in 2005; with organist J. Ruggiero now aboard, the remaining members overhauled their approach. Expanding past the incisive guitar pop of prior releases, they drew on the soundtracks of Fellini and David Lynch films together with the work of Tom Waits for the 2006 album In the City of Sleep, which they recorded alongside producer and engineer Steve Rivette. That autumn the Fever dissolved, concluding its run with a final show alongside Wolfbate.
