Biography
Following the legendary Clean's 1982 split, David and Hamish Kilgour kept writing songs as a team. Under the tongue-in-cheek name Great Unwashed, the pair issued the 1983 LP Clean Out of Our Minds, a set of primitive home recordings carrying a mildly experimental tone. Steadfast Clean fans welcomed the album, so the Kilgour brothers, now backed by bassist Peter Gutteridge, staged a handful of live shows. A five-track double single came out next, and in mid-1984 Ross Humphries joined to turn Great Unwashed into a quartet; yet the group disbanded before year's end.
