Biography
Benny Golson and Art Farmer established this ensemble in 1959, featuring McCoy Tyner at the piano. The initial lineup persisted through 1962 before the collective reemerged in 1985 once more under the direction of Farmer and Golson. Renowned for its meticulously crafted, accurate yet emotionally resonant compositions alongside a lively rhythmic approach, the group benefited from the restrained yet potent contributions of both leaders.
