The Lennon Sisters

From 1955 through 1967 the Lennon Sisters—Dianne, Janet, Peggy, and Kathy—delivered their sparkling harmonies on Lawrence Welk’s weekly television music program. Raised in Venice, California, the quartet landed a Coral Records contract largely because of Welk’s support, scoring their first hit when “Tonight You Belong to Me” climbed to number 15 on the 1956 charts and then achieving moderate success with “Sad Movies (Make Me Cry)” nearly five years later. After departing Welk they appeared only sporadically.
