Biography
Diane Tyler fronted the female quartet Magic Touch, whose vocal blend evoked the chorale style of the Andantes. The group cut several singles for tiny independent labels that never achieved traction. Under manager Bill Seabrook, their debut release, the April 1971 single “Step into My World” on Black Falcon Records, marked the peak of a short-lived career and received noticeably stronger airplay and distribution than the two 1976 follow-ups that appeared five years later: “A Woman Will Do Wrong” on Falcon Roost and “Let Me Go to the Disco” on Sirco Records. After Magic Touch dissolved, the act slipped into obscurity until Sirco issued a live version of “Step into My World” in 1987, though the effort generated no momentum. Before joining the quartet, Tyler had already issued a pair of solo sides on Jameco Records. Those earlier recordings, along with additional tracks, appear on the Collectables Records anthology Magic Touch & Friends.
