The Outcasts

The Outcasts once ranked as Northern Ireland’s foremost punk outfit, their roster anchored by the three Cowan brothers—Greg on bass and vocals, Martin on guitar, and Colin, who played drums until his death in 1984. That trio formed the stable core, even though Gordon Blair briefly filled Greg’s role after the latter sustained injuries in a car crash. Completing the lineup were guitarist ‘Getty’, born Colin Getgood, and drummer Raymond Falls. Their striking early single ‘Magnum Force’ drew the endorsement of BBC disc jockey John Peel. A robust debut album soon appeared, distinguished by the weighty grooves laid down by the two drummers. Colin Cowan nevertheless perished in a car crash before Seven Deadly Sins could reach the public.
