Formed in Detroit as a garage band, the Pleasure Seekers first consisted of sisters Suzi, Patti, and Arlene Quatro, daughters of jazz musician Art Quatro. The siblings launched the group while still in their teens and soon moved past any novelty perception by creating their own songs and handling all their instruments themselves. Their initial outing arrived in 1966 as the local hit "Never Thought You'd Leave Me," issued on the Hideout label, the recording outlet for the teen club where Suzi reportedly worked behind the counter. They moved to Mercury the next year for "Light of Love." Eldest sister Arlene left the Pleasure Seekers shortly afterward to raise a family, one of whose members is actress Sherilyn Fenn, best known for her work in the TV cult series Twin Peaks, and Nancy, another Quatro sister, stepped in. The band continued an intense touring pace through the rest of the decade, even playing a USO showcase at the height of the Vietnam War, though mainstream success stayed out of reach. Around 1969 the Pleasure Seekers adopted the name Cradle, which also marked a turn toward a harder-edged sound, yet the trio broke up by the early '70s. Suzi later rose to prominence as a solo artist and co-starred on the hit sitcom Happy Days in the role of the legendary Leather Tuscadero, while Patti joined the California band Fanny. Sundazed issued a collection of their classic recordings, What a Way to Die, in 2016.
