The Lemon Pipers

Comprising vocalist Ivan Browne alongside guitarist Bill Bartlett, keyboardist R.G. Nave, bassist Steve Walmsley, and drummer William Albaugh, the Lemon Pipers reached their peak recognition via the bubblegum smash "Green Tambourine," which topped the charts, together with the additional singles that came after it. Every one of those tracks was penned by the songwriting duo Paul Leka and Shelley Pinz. Though the musicians preferred psychedelic material, they agreed to record "Green Tambourine" solely to avoid being dropped by their label. After finally securing the creative autonomy they desired, the group’s inaugural self-produced album caused them to disappear from the charts altogether. The band dissolved in 1969, and Bartlett later joined Ram Jam.
