Mike Ramos, a San Francisco-based musician, performs under the Tony Jay name and has built a substantial body of work as a singer, songwriter, and collaborator within the Bay Area's psych and dream pop community. His most prominent associations have come through Flowertown and April Magazine, yet he has maintained a separate path of hazy lo-fi pop recordings under the Tony Jay identity since the late 2000s, developing a devoted following through numerous D.I.Y. projects. Broader attention arrived with the 2021 album Hey There Flower and the 2023 release Perfect Worlds, the latter issued by Oakland's Slumberland Records.

Ramos initiated his solo experiments in 2006 by posting material under the Tony Jay name, chosen simply as a neutral placeholder. What began as an attempt to avoid attention gradually shifted as his lo-fi singles, EPs, and cassettes accumulated an underground audience. At the same time he remained active in multiple Bay Area groups connected to the Paisley Shirt and Slumberland imprints. Beyond April Magazine he has performed with Al Harper, Cindy, and Sad Eyed Beatniks, and he co-founded the dream pop duo Flowertown alongside Karina Gill.

After distributing limited self-released Tony Jay singles for several years with minimal publicity, Ramos delivered the full-length Hey There Flower on Paisley Shirt in 2021. Created during pandemic isolation yet shaped by remote input from Gill and Harper, the record reached listeners beyond the immediate region and received positive notice farther afield. Its successor, Perfect Worlds, followed in 2023 on Slumberland.
