Biography
Trumans Water features Glen Galloway on guitar alongside brothers Kirk and Kevin Branstetter, who cover guitar and bass, plus 69-year-old drummer Andres Malinao. The quartet dismantles indie rock along lines first explored by Captain Beefheart. Pavement offers a current parallel, matching the same relaxed atmosphere, ragged guitar figures, and elusive words, yet Trumans Water takes the opacity even further. Homestead issued the band’s early catalog, encompassing the 1993 reissue Of Thick Tum, Spasm Smash XXXOXOX Ox and Ass from the same year, Godspeed the Punchline in 1994, and Milktrain to Paydirt the following year. Fragments of a Lucky Break appeared on Emperor Jones in 1998. A self-titled album surfaced in summer 2001, followed by You Are in the Line of Fire and They Are Shooting at You in 2003, after which the group entered a lengthy hiatus. They regrouped in 2010, adding bassist Mike Coumatos and drummer John Schier, and delivered O Zeta Zunis as their first release on Asthmatic Kitty.
