Mark Bandola, the London-based singer and songwriter who once played in the 1980s college rock band the Lucy Show, pursues his own work through the avant-pop solo project Typewriter. He formed the Lucy Show in South London in 1982 alongside fellow Canadian expatriate Rob Vandeven, and the group went on to issue the albums Undone in 1985 and Mania in 1987 before disbanding. After the Lucy Show ended, Bandola debuted Typewriter in 2003 with the independently released Skeleton Key, which drew strong critical praise, then followed it with the 2006 album Birdsnest.
