Ultraphonix emerged as a collaborative rock outfit uniting guitarist George Lynch, previously of Dokken and Lynch Mob, with vocalist Corey Glover from Living Colour. Their sound fuses aggressive guitar work, resilient yet emotive singing, and driving rhythms shaped by metal, funk, and progressive rock elements. What began as Lynch’s solo endeavor transformed once Glover joined, culminating in the 2018 release of their debut album, Original Human Music.

Lynch first gained prominence during the mid-'80s as Dokken’s lead guitarist, helping the Los Angeles hair metal outfit achieve commercial breakthroughs with three platinum albums: Tooth and Nail in 1984, Under Lock and Key in 1985, and Back for the Attack in 1987. Persistent tensions with frontman Don Dokken prompted his departure in the ’90s, after which he pursued independent paths through Lynch Mob and multiple solo efforts. Glover, meanwhile, burst into view in 1988 fronting Living Colour, whose debut album Vivid achieved widespread success on the strength of the hit single “Cult of Personality.” The band disbanded in 1995; Glover issued his solo record Hymns in 1998 and maintained an active presence across music and acting ventures, punctuated by occasional Living Colour reunions.

In 2017 Lynch sought to assemble a fresh ensemble, bringing aboard bassist Pancho Tomaselli—known for his tenure with the veteran funk group War and the experimental metal trio Philm alongside Slayer’s Dave Lombardo—and drummer Chris Moore, who had previously collaborated with Lynch in Project N-fidelikah and performed with metal acts Cry Wolf and Damage. Though the instrumental core meshed effectively, they required a vocalist. Stylist Leisa Balfour, acquainted with both Lynch, Tomaselli, and Moore as well as Glover, facilitated an introduction at the bassist’s prompting. The two musicians discovered immediate creative alignment, prompting the New York-based Glover to relocate temporarily to Los Angeles for two months of songwriting sessions with the others before tracking the material. Issued under the Ultraphonix name via Ear Music, Original Human Music appeared in August 2018.
