Biography
Rais Khan entered the world on December 25, 1939, in Indore, India. Although his father Muhammad Khan provided the first instruction, his mother supplied the decisive push that sustained his riyaz. Through his maternal line he descends from sitar virtuoso Inayat Khan of the Imdadkhani gharana. (See Chairman's Choice -- Great Gharanas: Imdadkhani on EMI India.) His recordings have appeared on both EMI India and the German Loft label.
