Biography
Although often depicted across various circles as an up-and-coming vocalist, Veena Sahasrabuddhe is in reality a seasoned performer who entered the world in 1948 and first took up singing during childhood. Solid standing and an expanding catalog of releases stand to her credit. Apart from the works referenced elsewhere, she issued the seasonal cycle Rutu Chakra on the Rhythm House label and supplied performances for Music Today’s Bhaktimala anthology of Hindu devotional music. Four of her bhajan renderings devoted to Shiva, one member of Hinduism’s divine trinity, are contained on the album Bhaktimala: Shiva, Vol. 2, which also presents the voices of Umakant and Ramakant Gundecha.
