Biography
Guitarist Vic Juris earned his chief recognition through a sustained partnership with Richie Cole. His first appearance on record occurred with Eric Kloss in 1975, followed by work in Barry Miles’ fusion band; the following year he began an intermittent tie to Cole that included several of the altoist’s strongest albums. Besides those dates, Juris—a skilled hard bop-oriented improviser—has recorded with Don Patterson, Mel Tormé, and Bireli Lagrene, performed duets with Larry Coryell, belonged to ensembles directed by Dave Liebman and Gary Peacock, and released projects as a leader on Muse and SteepleChase.
