Britain's Voces8 have earned acclaim for their refined poise and tonal palette, whose seamless vocal blends have drawn parallels with the King's Singers. Their programs move fluidly across eras, encompassing early Renaissance polyphony alongside the songs of Gershwin and living composers, occasionally within a single release. After competitive successes, the group surfaced in 2007 with From Gibbons to Gershwin. Four further recordings brought them to the 2011 survey of Brahms, Bruckner, and Reger, while their first Decca outing, Eventide, entered the British charts upon appearing in 2013. Although a holiday collection had already appeared, the 2016 album Winter emphasized wintry themes over seasonal carols, and more than a dozen releases into their discography the 2019 set Enchanted Isle recast music originally scored for screen and television. The ensemble appeared on Christopher Tin's The Lost Birds in 2022.

The name Voces8 was coined impulsively while traveling to a contest in Italy; the ensemble itself was founded in 2005 by former members of the Choir of Westminster Abbey. They adopted full-time professional standing in 2007—the same year From Gibbons to Gershwin documented the span from Orlando Gibbons (b. 1583) to George Gershwin (b. 1898). Their first official release, Evensong, came out on the in-house VCM Records label in 2008. After joining Signum Classics they issued Aces High, an anthology of pop numbers and film themes that embraced Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal and The Beach Boys' Good Vibrations; it surfaced in early 2010 and was followed later that year by Bach: Motets. Both Brahms, Reger, Bruckner and the straightforwardly titled Christmas appeared in 2011. A Choral Tapestry, revisiting Brahms, Reger, and Gibbons, arrived in 2012, and A Purcell Collection, recorded with Les Inventions, followed in 2013. Throughout this period the frequently changing roster maintained an extensive international touring calendar.

Voces8 transferred to Decca in 2013 and inaugurated the relationship with Eventide, which juxtaposed film composer John Williams, Benjamin Britten, and emerging voice Ola Gjeilo; the album reached number 59 on the U.K. chart. Original member Paul Smith also released the instructional volume The VOCES8 Method that year. Night Scapes: Choral Music for Reflective Moments appeared in 2014. Lux, issued in 2015, incorporated pieces by Tavener and Elgar together with material from singer/songwriter Ben Folds, while Winter in 2016 added pianist Huw Watkins and violinist Mari Samuelsen. Still on Decca, Equinox arrived in 2018, and Enchanted Isle followed in 2019. The group has repeatedly commissioned new music; a work by Jonathan Dove received its premiere from Voces8 in 2019. Marking the fifteenth anniversary in 2020, After Silence was unveiled in four installments that ultimately formed a complete double album. Infinity, a meditative crossover project, appeared on Decca in 2021, and in 2022 the Voces8 label released Paul Smith: Renewal? with the smaller vocal ensemble Apollo5. That same year Voces8 featured on Christopher Tin: The Lost Birds.
