Biography
Norway's WATERS craft dynamic pop shaped by '90s grunge and alt-rock. Formed around singer/songwriter Van Pierszalowski, the band assembled in Oslo during 2011 once Port O'Brien disbanded. Their first album, Out in the Light, surfaced that same year on TBD Records. After Pierszalowski moved to San Francisco, he assembled a fresh lineup that included guitarist Brian DaMert, keyboardist Sara DaMert, bassist Greg Sellin, and drummer Andrew Wales. Drawing from the quiet/loud dynamics of the Pixies and Nirvana, WATERS issued the follow-up EP It All Might Be OK, produced by Grouplove's Ryan Rabin. Their second full-length album, What's Real, arrived in April 2015 via Vagrant Records and registered on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. Produced by Tim Pagnotta of Neon Trees and Walk the Moon, Something More! appeared in 2017, with Pierszalowski penning the material as guidance for his younger self.
