Biography
Wax Fang began in 2005 as Scott Carney’s lone venture, a guitar-centered, multi-layered workshop outfit. The addition of bassist Jake Heustis and drummer Kevin Ratterman soon reshaped its course; Carney valued the low-end foundation they supplied to his Eno/Bowie-esque rock, pop, surf, and guitar-addled soundscape. His entirely solo debut, Black & Endless Night, surfaced near the project’s outset around 2005. Further sessions followed, now featuring the new rhythm-section members. Momentum increased in 2006 when the band undertook its first tour, supporting fellow Kentuckian outfit My Morning Jacket. Once home from the road, Wax Fang captured fresh material that became its sophomore release, La La Land.
