Biography
Comprising ambitious performers located throughout Los Angeles, the ensemble behind Westside revealed both career hurdles and private challenges to viewers of the unscripted program that first reached screens in 2018. Released alongside the series, its accompanying soundtrack contained glossy, studio-crafted new tracks from composers such as Diane Warren, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, and Train’s Pat Monahan, alongside vocals from the participants themselves—one of whom was former American Idol contestant Pia Toscano.
The eight installments of the sixty-minute Netflix production reached subscribers on November 9, 2018. Joining Toscano were Caitlin Ary, James Byous, Leo Gallo, Arika Gluck, Alexandra Kay, Austin Kolbe, Sean Patrick Murray, and Taz Zavala, whose collective approaches covered pop, contemporary R&B, country-pop, and hip-hop. Every member appeared on the twenty-track collection Westside: The Music, which Warner Bros. released the same day the show premiered.
