Wetdog came together in spring 2007 as an indie pop trio whose raw, mischievous songs echo the spirit of Lung Leg, Huggy Bear, and the Raincoats. Guitarist Rivka Gillieron, previously of Reverend Pike & the Ghosts, joined drummer Sarah Datblygo, also formerly of the Ghosts, and bassist Billy Easter to launch the project while the group was still based in England. Their first album, Enterprise Reversal, appeared on Angular Records in 2008. The follow-up, Frauhaus, arrived the next year via the American imprint Captured Tracks. After several U.S. tours, activity paused once Gillieron became pregnant and Datblygo relocated to New York City, complicating rehearsal schedules. While pursuing separate work—Easter with his band Shopping and Gillieron as an author and editor—the three musicians spent four years assembling fresh material. Those sessions produced Divine Times, issued by Upset the Rhythm in May 2015.
