Born into one of Canada’s largest First Nations, Wyatt C. Louis channels the communal bonds and ancestral customs of néhiyaw (Cree) lineage through robust, guitar-centered country-folk. Though the COVID-19 pandemic delayed momentum, the 2024 album Chandler fulfilled the groundwork laid by earlier singles such as “Dancing with Sue.”

Wyatt Chandler Louis entered the world in Ponoka, Alberta, Canada, and grew up in neighboring Wetaskiwin. With parents who nurtured artistic goals—his father a powwow dancer drawn to American classic rock and his mother employed as a caretaker for seniors—Louis sang in the school choir before relocating to Calgary after graduation to advance a music career.

The self-released EP On a Journey to the Long Run appeared in 2017, followed by a 2020 collaboration with the Canadian indie outfit Slow Weather on the wistful, romantic single “Dancing with Sue.” Two years after a warmly received performance at the Calgary Folk Music Festival, the 2023 single “Bobtail Road” arrived. Both tracks, joined by “Oh Vibrant Sky” featuring New York indie rockers Wild Pink, surfaced on Chandler, issued in 2024 via the Toronto label Royal Mountain.
