Biography
Having relocated from his Montana roots to Los Angeles, Wylie Gustafson established the Wild West Show during 1989. Shaped by a father who worked as a Montana rancher while performing on guitar and delivering cowboy songs, along with an older sibling in whose band he once played, Gustafson developed into a skilled yodeler whose style merges West Coast honky tonk and Western music. After arriving in Nashville during 1992, Wylie & the Wild West Show issued multiple videos that aired regularly on CMT and TNN. Though the tall, redheaded performer with glasses never gained significant radio traction, he maintains ongoing appearances at the Grand Ole Opry. The energetic frontman and his group maintain a busy touring schedule that has taken them across the U.S. plus Australia, Canada, and Europe. Rounder Records signed Wylie & the Wild West Show in 1996, leading to the release of Total Yodel! two years afterward, followed by the early-2000 album Ridin' the Hi-Line.
