Christian Jacobs of ska-punk outfit the Aquabats and Scott Schultz launched Yo Gabba Gabba! as a pair of fathers seeking an imaginative alternative to standard children's programming. A fresh edition titled Yo Gabba GabbaLand! debuted in 2024 under a new host, Kammy Kam, and expanded its roster of musical visitors.

Biz Markie supplies his signature beatbox segment "Biz's Beat of the Day," while Devo co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh animates sketches in "Mark's Magic Pictures." Additional performers who have delivered original material on the program encompass the Roots, Of Montreal, the Flaming Lips, Jimmy Eat World, Rocket from the Crypt, Money Mark, the Killers, Jack Black, Weezer, and Paul Williams. Schultz and Jacobs revived the property in 2024 as Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, retaining the established cast while introducing host Kammy Kam (Kamryn Smith) alongside fresh musical contributors such as Anderson .Paak, Betty Who, Thundercat, Portugal. The Man, Kurt Vile, and others.
