Yo Trane

Yo Trane crafts rap-infused R&B through measured singing and spellbinding, ethereal beats, allowing the style to shift and mature across each new project. Sparse yet magnetic lyrics helped shape the understated and enigmatic moods of releases such as the 2019 project Waves in the Moonlight.

Born in Gabon along Central Africa’s shoreline, Yo Trane spent his childhood in Paris. A childhood fascination with American pop prompted him to master English by repeated listening to artists including Michael Jackson and Prince. Entering his early twenties, he launched a professional career with the 2016 EP Late Night Drive. Listeners responded favorably to the shadowy, alluring mix of trap rhythms, R&B vocals, and occasional rap passages. Steady output followed, highlighted by singles such as “High off You” and “Alone,” culminating in the 2019 mixtape Waves in the Moonlight. The hazy, atmospheric nine-track set featured rapper Lil Baby on the song “Shine Like Beyoncé.”
