Biography
Appropriate for the Sub Pop roster, the rock fusion band Zen Guerilla presents itself as a genuine musical curiosity. The quartet came together in Delaware during the early 1990s, with Marcus Durant handling vocals, Andy Duvall on drums, Carl Horne on bass, and Rich Millman on guitar, forging a personal style that fused blues, rock, and gospel into a brand of rock & roll so authentic it declared its own arrival. Countless national performances built a loyal following while attracting the interest of punk pioneer Jello Biafra. The band and Biafra connected in 1995, establishing a partnership that resulted in the 1998 album Positronic Raygun and the reissue of the EPs Invisible "Liftee" Pad/Gap-Tooth Clown. Zen Guerilla’s second full-length, Trance State in Tongues, arrived the following year.
