Biography
Formed during 1998, the San Francisco outfit 20 Minute Loop has sustained its mixed-gender identity built around spiky hooks and new-wave rhythms. The five members—Kelly Atkins on vocals and keyboards, Greg Giles covering guitar and vocals, Joe Ostrowski on guitar, Dan Jones on bass, and Ethan Turner on drums—cite X, the Pixies, Pavement, and PJ Harvey as further touchstones, a combination they themselves label “freak-pop.” The group joined the Fortune Records roster in 1999, issuing its self-titled debut album the following year.
