Punk survivors ADZ came together in 1991 from the remnants of the legendary Orange County band the Adolescents, bringing back original frontman Tony Reflex (a.k.a. Tony Adolescent) along with guitarist Rikk Agnew and drummer Casey Royer. After shortening their name to ADZ, the band signed with Lethal Records and put out the comeback album Where Were You?; once Royer and Agnew stepped away following a handful of local shows, Reflex chose to press forward by adding guitarists Kirk Mosher and Roger Ramjet, bassist Mike Rouse and drummer Matt Young for the next release, Piper at the Gates of Downey in 1995. Further personnel shifts prompted the departures of Ramjet and Rouse, who were replaced by original Adolescents guitarist Frank Agnew, guitarist "Slippery" George Paras and bassist Bruce Duff; Transmissions from Planet Speedball appeared in 1998, with Odz'n'Sodz arriving a year later.
