Biography
The Filipino ensemble Agaw Agimat distinguishes itself through both its distinctive visual presentation and its sonic approach. Their music offers a contemporary, punk-infused interpretation of swing from the big band period. Formed as a nameless collective, the musicians began collaborating in 1993. They maintained this anonymity for an extended period before adopting the moniker Agaw Agimat, which translates to "seize an amulet." In the beginning of 1994, the group issued their debut recording, R-15. The follow-up effort, Patak, emerged toward the end of 1996.
