The Belgian jazz trio Aka Moon, made up of Fabrizio Cassol on alto sax, Michel Hatzigeorgiou on electric bass, and Stéphane Galland on drums, formed in the early '90s. Their name comes from a Pygmy culture, while their style merges jazz, rock, world music, modern composition, and additional influences into a distinctive hybrid. Over the course of their existence the group has occasionally broadened its textures through added personnel and instruments including keyboards and guitar. By 2012 the trio had released more than 15 albums, among them 2001's In Real Time, written for Anne-Teresa De Keersmaeker's Rosas dance company, and 2012's Unison, recorded and issued to mark the ensemble's twentieth anniversary. The Scarlatti Book appeared in 2015 with guest pianist Fabian Fiorini joining the lineup and presented Cassol compositions inspired by the sonatas of Neopolitan composer Domenico Scarlatti.
