Biography
Originating amid the wintry heights of the French Alps, Aldaaron assembled in 2004 under the provisional banner Empires de Glace. The black metal group channels the enigmatic forces of the natural realm alongside the mythic landscapes of J.R.R. Tolkien, rendering these visions in French rather than the English or Scandinavian languages typical of the style. Evidence first appeared with the 2007 demo Des Légendes et Anciens Dieux, which revealed a ferocious yet somber approach distinguished by comparatively refined production values and assured technical command. That approach reached fuller expression on the band’s widely praised 2009 debut album, Nous Reviendrons Immortels, recorded by Ioldar (guitar, vocals), Voldr (guitar, vocals), Thøl (bass), and Mörkk (drums).
