Alessandro Galati, a pianist born during 1966 in Florence, Italy, pursued studies in both classical music and jazz under the direction of the esteemed Bruno Tommaso. After appearing at clubs and festivals across Europe and the United States, he began releasing recordings at a steady pace, among them Traction Avant in 1995, Jason Salad in 1997, and Europhilia in 1999, the last of which had been commissioned by the town council of Sesto Fiorentino and dedicated to the European United Nations. Beginning in 1988, he has taught piano and jazz combo arrangement at the Accademia Musicale di Firenze as well as the Centro Attivita' Musicali. Apart from his own releases, Galati has worked with a variety of musicians that include Steve Lacy, Kenny Wheeler, Lee Konitz, and Bob Sheppard.
