Amanda Green descends from lyricist and screenwriter Adolph Green together with actress and singer Phyllis Newman. Recognized simultaneously as author and interpreter, she earned a 2001 Drama Critic's Circle Award nomination for the musical Up the Week Without a Paddle; her compositions also figured in the Broadway production Nothing Like a Dame, while she herself performed on Broadway in a revival of her father's Wonderful Town and in additional shows. Working as a freelance journalist, she contributes comic pieces to Playboy magazine. By Hook Records issued the 2003 album Put a Little Love in Your Mouth: The Songs of Amanda Green, which documents a nightclub revue featuring Green and an ensemble of musical-theater singers delivering her material.
