Born on January 17, 1982, Amanda Wilkinson grew up performing alongside her father Steve and brother Tyler from the time she turned six. The family act secured its first recording contract in 1997 following a modest Nashville club appearance when she was fifteen. Under the name the Wilkinsons, she appeared on the five studio albums Nothing But Love, Here and Now, Shine, Highway, and Home released between 1998 and 2007. Only the debut yielded major hits, as both “26 Cents” and “Fly” topped the Canadian country charts while later singles fell short of that mark. Across their run the trio collected nine Canadian Country Music Awards, one Juno Award, and two Grammy nominations.

Wilkinson launched a solo career in 2005 with her self-titled debut on Universal South Records. Four singles emerged from the project, three of which charted on Canadian country radio; the strongest performer, “It’s Okay to Cry,” reached the Top Ten. She has also maintained a parallel television presence, appearing with her five immediate family members on the Canadian CMT series The Wilkinsons. The scripted reality program chronicled the family’s relocation to a small town and aired for two seasons before entering syndication. On her own, Wilkinson earned four Canadian Country Music Award nominations in the categories of Single of the Year, CMT Video of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year.
