Biography
Based in New York, musician Amber Coffman gained recognition primarily through her role in the alternative rock group Dirty Projectors, where her contributions included singing and guitar playing. Her musical journey began with the post-rock ensemble Sleeping People, an affiliation that lasted until 2007, at which point she joined Dirty Projectors full-time and participated in tours supporting the Rise Above album. She played a central role in the band's output, notably on the 2009 release Bitte Orca and the 2012 album Swing Lo Magellan, where her complex vocal arrangements and three-part harmonies formed a core element. Beyond the group, she worked alongside electronic musician Rusko for the 2010 song "Hold On," and lent her voice to tracks such as Major Lazer's "Get Free," J. Cole's "She Knows," and "No Regrets" featuring Snoop Lion and T.I. Her first solo effort, City of No Reply, arrived in 2017.
