Biography
Amble comprise an acoustic trio based in Ireland, where their sincere observations draw attention to ordinary life. Early in 2024 the group issued their debut EP, Of Land and Sea, and by the time the follow-up, The Commons, arrived later that year they were already filling venues across Ireland and the U.K.
Drawn from Leitrim, Longford, and Sligo, Ireland, the three musicians—initially strangers—crossed paths after sharing a bill in late 2022. Right after the show Ross McNerney (mandolin, guitar) sent a voice message to Robbie Cunningham (vocals, guitar) and Oisín McCaffrey (guitar, vocals) urging them to document their material together. Several tracks, among them a short live EP, surfaced under the Amble name in early 2023, quickly building an audience that filled intimate rooms well ahead of dates by mid-year. The first official EP, Of Land and Sea, followed in February 2024, after which additional standalone singles accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams over the ensuing months. “Lonely Island,” released in August 2024, resonated with Irish listeners abroad and generated millions more plays, paving the way for the second EP, The Commons, in November. Its affecting title track, written during a rail journey from Dublin to Longford, concerns a suicide note discovered on a train.
