Biography
Sultry vocalist Ana Caram merges Brazil’s melodic song heritage with the understated elegance of American cool jazz. Her delicate, alluring delivery, framed by rich orchestrations, introduces a fresh perspective to bossa nova. After establishing herself as an emerging talent, she received encouragement from Antonio Carlos Jobim to relocate to New York in the late ’80s. That decision proved decisive for her breakthrough. Appearing alongside jazz saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera at the JVC Jazz Festival, she attracted the attention of a Chesky Records executive and secured a multi-album deal. Jobim contributed guitar to her debut release, Rio After Dark. With her follow-up, The Other Side of Jobim, she offered another tribute to the composer.
