Formed by Grammy-winning producer Sergio George in 2012, the charting Cuban pop quartet Angeles features Havana natives Ángel Rodriguez Quintero, Sian Chiong, Hansel Delgado, and Mikel Korta Torres. That year their single “Cuéntale a Él,” fusing EDM, salsa, and Cuban pop, landed on national radio and distinguished itself sharply from surrounding programming, quickly attracting a vast audience that included several members still in their mid-teens. The following year young admirers filled the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva de La Habana, where Angeles demonstrated both strong songwriting and a dynamic stage presence while unveiling their next hit, “Te Confieso.” By 2014 “Besando Tu Boca” had crossed to Mexico and become a regular on the nation’s largest stations, opening doors for tours of major cities and festivals. Meanwhile their videos accumulated millions of views on YouTube. In 2017 the group joined Warner Music Latina, generating widespread coverage across the U.S., Mexico, and Cuba. Their first release for the label, “Me Mata Tu Amor,” was previewed by a video filmed live amid thousands of fans on the streets of Havana, drawing coverage even from CNN.
