Biography
Anita Lipnicka first gained attention as a member of the Polish rock band Varius Manx before stepping forward as a solo singer and songwriter. Born on June 13, 1975, in Piotrkow Trybunalski, she entered the group in 1993 and appeared on its two mid-nineties releases, Emu in 1994 and Elf in 1995. After leaving the ensemble, she moved to London, England, where she issued her first solo album, Anything Can Happen, in 1996. The record’s strong reception paved the way for two further independent projects, What Is Real in 1998 and My Eyes Are Green in 2000. Her most significant artistic and personal chapter, however, unfolded through her partnership with Welsh musician John Porter, previously associated with Maanam and the Porter Band. After contributing a track to one of his projects, the pair began a close collaboration that produced a series of joint albums, beginning with Indecent Songs in 2003 and continuing with Inside Story in 2005, Other Stories in 2006, and All the Stories later that same year. With the arrival of Goodbye in 2008 they chose to pursue separate solo paths professionally, while preserving their private relationship.
