Biography
Anita Skorgan entered the world on November 13, 1958, in Gøteborg, Norway, and launched her recording career as a Norwegian pop singer with the 1975 album Til En Venn. Her follow-up, Du Er Naer Meg, arrived in 1976 and reached the Top 20, initiating a sustained run of commercial breakthroughs that stretched through the late 1970s and into the mid-1980s. The subsequent release Young Girl (1997) climbed still higher on the charts and yielded the Top Five single “Casanova,” which also earned her the chance to perform for Norway at the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest. Two years afterward she returned to the same stage with the Top Ten hit “Oliver.” Ingen Vei Tilbake, issued in 1979, captured the Spellemannprisen for Pop Album of the Year. Although Skorgan continued to issue solo projects such as Pastell (1980), De Fineste (1981), Karma (1985), and White Magic (1986), her most visible achievements came alongside fellow Norwegian pop singer Jahn Teigen, himself a three-time Eurovision representative. Their 1983 collaboration Cheek to Cheek topped the national chart and delivered the Top Five singles “Adieu” and “Friendly.” Following that period of peak activity, Skorgan reduced her release schedule markedly and moved into semi-retirement. Only two albums appeared during the 1990s—Basic in 1990 and Julenatt in 1994—while subsequent output remained sporadic, highlighted by her participation in the 2005 supergroup Queen Bees.
