Originating in Germany, Antichrisis presented two contrasting musical personas across their initial pair of studio releases. Their 1997 effort Cantara Anachoreta embodied a gothic and progressive black metal style, characterized by Sid’s (also called Moonshadow) profound, guttural singing and aggressive guitar work. In contrast, the following year’s A Legacy of Love adopted a folk-rock style incorporating pop elements, where uilleann pipes alongside Dragonfly’s (alternatively Willowcat) leading female vocals took prominent positions. Yet the lyrical themes remained consistent between these works, consistently delving into ancient cultures, fantasy, and mysticism, often with a dark tone.
