Hailing from L'Épiphanie, Quebec, Antoine Dufour is a French-Canadian fingerstyle guitarist whose percussive technique, built around slap harmonics, recalls the work of Phil Keaggy, Leo Kottke, and Michael Hedges. He first picked up the guitar at 15 and pursued further training at the vocational CEGEP college in Joliette. In 2005 Dufour finished second in the Fingerstyle Guitar Championship at the Canadian Guitar Festival, then captured first prize the following year. Between 2005 and 2011 he issued five solo albums—Naissance, Development, Existence, Convergences, and Sound Pictures—while posting numerous YouTube videos, many of them made with his friend and fellow six-string wizard Andy McKee, a collaboration that helped build him a substantial fan base. Dufour also works as a guitar instructor.
